28 Rue des Remparts Bookings are Saturday to Saturday and for minimum of a week. This lovely old stone terrace style house is unique in that it is decorated in Art Deco style and has an upstairs open terrace with views to the Montagnes Noire. It has been fully renovated, has 3 levels with a cellar underneath. It is a very comfortable one bedroom, open plan house & is suitable for one person or a couple. The locals have been astounded by the transformation of this house. On entry the tiles are Art Deco 3 dimensional - you come into the lounge/dining area with two lounge chairs & coffee table near the classic Belle Epoque wood burning stove. An Art Deco dining table "swings" to be larger with 2 chairs. The kitchen with good workspace has a microwave oven plus a stove with 4 electric hobs & fan-forced oven. There is a window looking to the old "Remparts" village wall built to repel invaders over 1000 years ago. Stairs lead up to the first floor - the bathroom is on the left with a tiled shower, toilet & basin. The window looks also to "the Remparts" wall. The bedroom with a Juliet balcony has a double bed, 2 Art Deco bedside tables & dressing table plus the most unusual wardrobe we have found in all of our antique buying in the area. Another set of stairs leads up to the second floor where you can see the view to the ancient tower. This floor also has an Art Deco cupboard for bed linen, an antique marble top cupboard for towels and bed linen & an Art Deco stand with reading material. The lounge can be converted to a French style sofa bed (if a friend visits overnight). The large sunny open terrace with sliding glass doors and classic iron table & chairs has a lovely view to the Montagnes Noire. Perfect for spring, summer and autumn evenings sipping your local Trausse wines. There is an electric Weber Q barbeque on the terrace as well as an outside shower to cool you off on hot days. In the house there is the wood burning stove & two moveable heaters, two fans for summer, a washing machine, iron and ironing board - all linen/towels are supplied. Also a CD player and radio as well as a flatscreen TV (with DVD) with French channels, mounted on the wall on the top floor. Plus a selection of DVDs. The cellar is entered from behind the house and is where the firewood is also stored for this house. Luggage can be stored there too or rented bicycles. Booking Conditions |
